Modern Apprenticeships

Retail Operations and Customer Service

Both the Retail and Customer Service apprenticeship frameworks - Foundation and Advanced - consist of the following three components: (1) the NVQ at the appropriate level (Level 2 for Foundation Apprenticeships and Level 3 for Advanced), (2) achievement of Key Skills at the appropriate level and (3) 2 further additional certificated outcomes, such as units from other specified NVQ’s or alternative qualifications. Technical Certificates will be required for each apprenticeship level in the near future.

Level 3 NVQ’s suit a role where a large degree of autonomy or greater responsibility is exercised. Therefore, GCSE school leavers will normally start training on a Foundation Modern Apprenticeship completing the NVQ2 before progressing on to the Advanced Apprenticeship. GCSE “A” level candidates or may start immediately on the NVQ 3 without completing the NVQ level 2.
