Distribution and Warehousing Operation

A Foundation Modern Apprenticeship in Distribution and Warehousing Operations is made up of three components which are the NVQ level 2, achievement of Key Skills at the appropriate level and achievement of a formal learning element.

To achieve the NVQ level 2, candidates need to complete 7 units, 3 of which are mandatory and 4 are optional. Which optional units are selected will depend on the type of warehouse and the actual job the apprentice is doing. The future plans for their personal development within the company may also be taken into account.

To achieve the apprenticeship at foundation level will be trained at the workplace to develop skills in:

The 3 mandatory units:

  • Effective working relationships
  • Maintenance of health and safety in the workplace
  • Ensuring security in the workplace
Option Group B (2 units required):

  • Assemble of orders for customers
  • Placing goods and materials in storage
  • Receive and verify goods and materials entering storage
  • Select stock items and assemble orders for delivery to individuals
Advanced Modern Apprentices will work towards an NVQ level 3, will have more responsibility, undertake a higher level of Key Skills and take additional units from NVQ level 3.
