Employer Benefits
Benefits to Employers of the Modern Apprenticeships Programme
The Modern Apprenticeships Programme is designed for the
16 to 24 year old age group and can be undertaken by existing
employees or new staff recruited directly onto the programme
through MAPS. The programme is designed to benefit both employers
and young people. Everyone is a winner.
For the employer committing to the Modern Apprenticeship
programme, the main benefits can be summarised as follows:
Free Recruitment Service
MAPS source new apprentices for you to select from. Our experienced
staff will ensure we only send you candidates for interview
who fit your needs. We interview across Bedfordshire and London
and will always seek to find candidates within your geographical
catchment area.
A structured approach to training ensures apprentices become
fully trained in all the skill areas required so maximising
their value and usefulness to the company. Experienced MAPS
staff assist with the development of the training programme.
Economical Route To Training New Staff
The minimum wage does not apply for the first year of the
apprenticeship. This allows the employer the opportunity to
build in frequent wage/salary increases on achievement of
targets whilst keeping within a sensible budget over the first
six months.
Regular visits and support by MAPS staff to reinforce and
help the apprentice achieve their targets. This includes monthly
target setting and support for the employer on training issues
and on other matters when required (e.g. discipline issues).
MAPS staff are available at very short notice if necessary.
Staff become better motivated because they see their employer
is making an investment in them. All apprentices work towards
an NVQ level 2 or 3 - usually City and Guilds qualification.
For some people, gaining further qualifications is a great
incentive in itself.
