Apprenticeship in Engineering - Qualifications to be Achieved

Key Skills

  • Application of Number 1
  • Communication Level 1
  • ICT level 1
  • Improving own Learning and Performance level 2
  • Working with Others level 2

Key Skills in Application of Number and Communication can be relaxed, not taken, if you have achieved A-C in GCSE ,maths and English within the last 5 years or if you have D-G in maths and English you need only produce a portfolio missing out the exam.

If your intention is to progress to Advanced Apprenticeship the Key Skills in Application of Number and Communication rise to Level 2. The relaxation rules apply. If you have GCSE D-G you may wish to take the level 2 Key Skills in Application of Number and Communication at level 2 during the apprenticeship. By doing that you will only have to do one set of key skills. Key skills are about how you use numbers and how you communicate. MAPS tutors will guide you through the qualifications providing help and assistance on a continual basis. The ICT key skill is crucial as much of engineering activity is computer driven via CAD, communication, and controlling machines. The soft key skills are about how you learn and adapt in the work place.
